The NFL released its schedule for the 2025 season on Wednesday, finally bringing times and dates to the matchups that were effectively set in stone at the end of last season. Week 1 of the season will kick off on Thursday, Sept. 4, when the defending Super Bowl championPhiladelphia Eagles host the Dallas Cowboys on NBC. The regular season will end on Jan. 7 before the playoff teams will battle it out for the right to play in Super Bowl 60 on Feb. 8. Here are the 10 most intriguing games to look out for as the season (slowly but surely) approaches. Neither of these teams was remarkable last year, however...it appears the schedule makers think what a lot of regular people seem to think, which is that quarterback Aaron Rodgers will sign with the Steelers before the start of the season. If that's the case, then in Week 1, we could have a matchup of two quarterbacks (Rodgers and Justin Fields) facing their former teams. In addition to a Super Bowl 59 rematch, this game will be an early season litmus test for the Chiefs' offensive line. Was Kansas City's blowout loss in February simply a fluke? Will the Eagles still dominate the line of scrimmage? Even if this one won't affect how we view what happened at the end of last season, it should be a good measuring stick for the Chiefs. The first matchup between two of the best QBs from the famous (infamous?) 2020 draft class, Joe Burrow and Jordan Love. Burrow has played the Packers only once before in his career, a loss against a Rodgers-led squad in 2021. This is the Super Bowl matchup many people (including myself) wanted to see last season. If the Lions are still a contending football team this year, it will be fun to see what chaos Detroit coach Dan Campbell schemes up against one of the NFL's perennial best. This is a rematch of a playoff game wedidget to see last year, and it was pretty heartbreaking for Lions fans. Detroit can't erase the pain of 2024 with a win, but I'm sure the team wants another shot at the Commanders. The Packers introduced a bylaw to ban the "tush push" this offseason, and the fate of the play is still hangs in the balance as of now. If it's not banned, how many times will Philly try to tush push the ball through Green Bay's defense? And if it is banned, how motivated will the Eagles be to put a hurt on the Packers? Don't ever take this era's version of Manning vs. Brady for granted. Patrick Mahomes has played against the Cowboys only once in his career, and never in Dallas. This game is on Thanksgiving, and Mahomes is a Texas native who went to high school about two hours from Jerryworld. I'm expecting fireworks. By this point in the season, could this be a quarterback battle between Caleb Williams and Shedeur Sanders? Ever since the NFL switched to all-division matchups in Week 18, it feels as if the stakes are often lower than what the dream is — a bunch of teams playing for first place in their division. Last year, we got a very significant clash between the Lions and the Minnesota Vikings that played a major role in the postseason. The Commanders and Eagles could provide similar theatrics this time.
